EU AI Act Risk Checker

Where does your AI system stand under the EU AI Act?

A 10-question screening of one AI system against the EU AI Act and GDPR. You get a first indication, not legal advice.

Question 1 of 10 Does the system use a prohibited practice?

E.g. social scoring, manipulative techniques that exploit vulnerabilities, untargeted scraping of facial images, emotion recognition at work or in education, real-time remote biometric identification in public spaces for law enforcement.

Question 2 of 10 Is it a safety component of a product, or itself a product, covered by EU product safety law?

E.g. machinery, medical devices, toys, lifts or vehicles (Annex I), where a third-party conformity assessment is required.

Question 3 of 10 Is it used in one of these areas?

The high-risk areas listed in Annex III.

Question 4 of 10 Does it interact directly with people or generate text, images, audio or video?

E.g. chatbots, voice assistants, generative AI, deepfakes.

Question 5 of 10 What is your role?
Question 6 of 10 Do you develop a general-purpose AI model and make it available to others?

E.g. a foundation model or large language model offered to other companies. Only using one via an API does not count.

Question 7 of 10 Does it process personal data?

Any information about an identifiable person: names, e-mail addresses, IDs, recordings, usage data.

Question 8 of 10 Does it process special categories of data, such as health data?

Also biometric data for identification, genetic data, ethnic origin, political opinions, religious beliefs, trade union membership, sex life or sexual orientation.

Question 9 of 10 Does it make or prepare decisions about individuals with legal or similarly significant effects?

E.g. rejecting a loan, a job application or an insurance claim.

Question 10 of 10 Does data go to a provider outside the EU/EEA?

E.g. an AI API or cloud service hosted in the US, or remote access by support staff abroad.
